Re: Trading a 3.2DiD for a 3.8V6 MIVEC

Gen 3s are a little heavy on the discs, but I agree that it sounds excessive to have changed them three times by 75000 km. I replaced discs every 90000 km due to shudders developing.

Re: Inclino meter console

And if you can find one out of a 2003 Gen 3, then the display is even in colour and not in monochrome blue... ;) :D

Re: Sensible suspension upgrade and lift

What was the ride like with the lift? Did it change for the worse? Most definitely. Apart from the stiffer springs that are used to generate lift contributing to a harsher ride, the fact that the suspension mid-ride point was shifted often lead to topping out over even mild bumps due to the lack of...

Re: Sensible suspension upgrade and lift

If Darryl is correct regarding the 50mm lift causing problems then everyone who has paid thousands for IM/OME is in the same boat - in other words nonsense, it is just a salesman trying to sell his product (which he is perfectly entitled to ) I ran our 2003 DiD for something like 70000 km with a 60...

Re: Shuddering when braking

Hi Calvin. Don't discount the brake discs just yet. Skimming brakes really never works as a permanent solution. The process can bring the disc back to true geometry, but can't ever remove the hard spots that resulted from the shuddering or lead to the shuddering in the first place. Skimmed discs ver...

Re: New to the Pajero family...

Yes, both the original Super Select system used in the Gen 2 (and Pajero Sport) as well as the Super Select II system used in the Gen 3 and Gen 4 can be shifted from 2H to 4H at up to 100 kph. It helps to just back off the throttle slightly so that the drive train is not under a large torque load. T...

Re: I need some advise please

It would have electronic traction control and also electronic stability control (the latter can be turned off using the button on the dash that you mention, while the former is always on). The early Gen 4 GLXs were specced that way (i.e. Identically to the GLS in this respect), while the later ones ...

Re: S. African Pajero "Shogun" or how to spot a rear diff lo

Nevertheless this one Gen 2 SWB does have the DOHC 24 valve 3.5V6! (as far as I can see on the picture, unless the SOHC also had 24 valves?) The SOHC 3.5 is also a 24 valve motor, but I agree, that one looks like it says DOHC down the side. That is entirely possible, as it is a Shogun. The SA spec ...

Re: S. African Pajero "Shogun" or how to spot a rear diff lo

I don't know enough about the topic, but I'll have a go at some of the questions at least. As far as I know, the Shogun is a UK spec Pajero. Some of them were imported to SA via official channels and some probably made their way here as grey or personal imports, but the Shogun remains a UK spec car....

Re: Gen 3 Pajero Recovery points

Please listen carefully to CATS' warnings above about towbars with too few bolts. On our DiD the BTM towbar also cracked the body shell around the mounting points and that was only from towing a little 7 foot Venter trailer and later a Conqueror Conquest trailer (never in very difficult conditions e...
