I know ive mentioned this in passing before.
Just completed about a 4000 km trip through northern cape, tankwa, cederberg, CT and back to Joburg.
Pajero runs well, BUT, with the car loaded with trailer, when climbing mountain passes or steep gradients i notice a squeak from somewhere (that does change with the throttle), in relatatively low revs (around 2400) before it decides to change up a gear. There is no loss of power or anything just a noise that doesnt seem right...any ideas?

Re: Squeak Noise under load Gen 3 DID
first thing that jumps to mind on the 4m41 engine is the cam chain tensioner. It's a cheap part and easy to replace but a failure can ruin the engine.
try the screwdriver to ear and listen to the cam cover to pinpoint if it is actually that.
Best yet is to spend 30 minutes, pull the cam cover, take a macro shot and post here if you are unsure (may as well just replace it if you gonna pull the cam cover)

Old post from 2011, I know.
My Paj started doing the same thing (after head replacement last year).
Any ideas other ideas or experiences other than Marius' reply?
