I had been looking for a diesel Pajero 3 in manual for some time, picked this one up about 6 months ago. I has a couple of minor issues but the engine sounded good and it pulled strongly. One of the first things I did was to block off the EGR.
Anyway long story short, it was driving fine yesterday but today will only swing with no sign of starting whatsoever. No diesel smell from the exhaust either.
Using the DIY method to check faults it comes up with the dreaded 48 and only 48! F#@K!!!
Is it really possible to go from no smoke, no engine light, no issues one day to needing a new fuel pump the next?
I have also checked the fuel solenoid, although it shows some wear marks it does work. Still need to check that it's getting power.
