GEARBOX NOT KICKING DOWN TO FIRST

Wed Oct 04, 2017 12:22 pm

I HAVE A PROBLEM ON MY 3.5 V6 1998 PAJERO LWB

FOR SOME REASON MY GEARBOX DOES NOT KICK BACK TO FIRST GEAR WHEN I STOP AT ROBOT OR WHEREVER. WHEN I PULL AWAY THE PAJERO HAS NO POWER AND I HAVE TO PUT THE SELECTOR LEVER IN FIRST(AUTO BOX) AND THEN PULL AWAY AND MANUALLY PUT IT IN DRIVE AGAIN. I HAVE CHANGED MY GEARBOX OIL RECENTLY LESS THEN 200KM AGO.

I HAVE NOTICED THAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THERE IS A VACUUM PUMP WITH A CABLE CONNECTED TO IT THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE, HOWEVER THE PUMP DOES NOT GET ANY POWER ALTHOUGH THERE IS POWER AT THE FUSE. NO POWER FROM THE FUSE TO PUMP.

DOES THIS VACUUM PUMP WORK WITH THE GEARBOX

IF NOT WHAT ELSE CAN I CHECK

I'm not clued up on the auto's however I would check the oil, is it the right spec? Other than that there should be some sort of lock to lock it in a gear for offroad use, I would check around that for loose connection etc. Also check what they call the kickback, this is what handles downgearing and can be adjusted.
