good day
My centre diff light recently started flashing on my 2006 Pajero while driving. i would be in 2H and after about 30 min or so of continious driving the 2 back green lights would go dead and center diff light would start flashing. Stop, switch vehicle off start again and drive normal for about 30 min. When i drive in 4H however nothing happens - Anyone had this? some advice?

Mine is doing the same thing. Diagnostics says its transfer case switch 2.
I sprayed the vacuum pump switches in the engine bay and the fault has gone.... A Google fix.
Not sure if this is short or long term fix as i haven't had her long and am doing work for her COR before i can drive her extensively.
Hope it help and please info me if you get a better fix.

I Have the same problem and was told to check the switches and piping first before looking at sensors. I decided to just drive full time in 4x4H till I get around to fixing it - doesn't seem to make much difference to the fuel consumption

Re: Centre diff light flashes
thanks for feedback guys - Esso when you say spay - do you mean with high pressure cleaner or a spray like Q20 or something. I only drive 8km to work so in week not a problem - does your 4x4 work fine though?

Re: Centre diff light flashes
I removed the unit close to the air box... Take note which pipe and plug fits where. The plugs can be tricky so I un-bolted the unit first to aid in removing the plugs.
Sprayed both plugs and the unit liberally with Q20 and reassembled. No more problems so far but i have yey to do a trip of more than 30km in one go.
Easy fix if it works. 10mm socket and a tin of Q20.
Let me know if it works for u.

Re: Centre diff light flashes
Hie.
My Gen 3 3.5 V6 GDI had the same problem and I realized that it was as a result of stuck solenoid. My remedy was to move the the 4WD lever from 2H to 4LLC and back several times with the engine off but key on the "ON" position. You should hear the actuator whirling into position. I believe it lubricated the mechanism and I have not had a problem since. Most probably caused by grime on the solenoid due to lack of constant use.
So now I cycle the lever at least twice a month to keep mechanism lubricated.

Re: Centre diff light flashes
Hi,
It could be a damaged or dislodged vacuum pipe. I had a similar situation and discovered after sometime that one of the pipes on the actuator on the front dif had somehow come off.

If it has moving parts, You can always figure out how it works. Not applicable for solid state hard drives.
