Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
I too have just discovered some rust on the metal frame. I have treated it with Rust Stop as an interim solution but would also like someone to fix it properly. I am also I Cape Town. So if you find someone, please let me know.

Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
Hi Guys,
For the others enquiring about rust in the sunroof.
I had the rust removed from my sunroof from a private Panelbeater in the Ottery area.
His name is Ching, his tel number 072 359 9161.
He did tell me I will eventually need to replace the frame.
He was extremely reasonable and from what I can see he has done a great job. The workmanship is very neat.
I have only used him this once but I was very impressed with him and his work.
Regards
Duncan

Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
I imported a complete radio which runs android 5.5 and it had the correct plugs and even works with the steering controls - very happy with it. Only cost 3.8k but it was not from Amayama. Based on the price it may make sense to buy the sunroof, but one has to be careful that we get the correct part. If you do decide to go ahead, please email me directly, maybe we can have two shipped at the same time. ? victor@homebrewed.co.za

Good day
@Victorsables can you please if you don't mind post a photo of the radio that you installed and does it come with navigation or the make/model.
It seems the sunroof of the Pajero's is a major issue hence the subject that is recurring every now and then and the latest price is in the region of +- R26000.00.

Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
Hi All
Just to say I'm keenly interested in this issue as I have a very leaky Sunroof and so far the only people who are prepared to consider the issue is Webasto who specialise in Sunroofs. The costs of replacement part from Mitsubishi was the same quoted previously, at approximately R18 000.
In the interim Webasto have sealed the leak for me so no more rain is getting in. I clearly can't use the Sunroof.
One option would be for a panel beater to remove the Sunroof and close it up? I'll continue to follow the topic.

Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
Any updates about fixing the rusty sunroof?
I checked on amayama, the price is USD 635 excl shipping, while Mitsu dealers here in Mauritius are charging twice the price for it.
However if only the sunroof lid can be dismantled, has anyone tried doing that and getting fixed at a bodywork shop?

Re: Rust in the sunroof frame
I gave Ching a call in Landsdowne, cape town. Taking the Pajero there tomorrow evening to be fixed. He is very confident he'll be able to fix the roof and has done a couple before. To add to my leaking problems the roof came off its rails and i had to manually close it and ducktape it to keep the water out. Will post some pics after the roof is fixed.

treurnicht, hope it turns out good. If you could please take some pics of the dismantling and fixing to share that'd be really helpful to all. I have to do it to my NS as welltreurnicht wrote:I gave Ching a call in Landsdowne, cape town. Taking the Pajero there tomorrow evening to be fixed.
