Hi Guys. I have a Gen 4 2010 GLX. I love my car. I do however miss a multifunction steering wheel to control the radio and phone calls. Is it at all possible to replace an existing steering wheel with a new one?
Or is this looking for trouble?
Replacement of standard steering wheel with multi function?

Mine has the steering controls retrofitted!
Apparently you can buy them, unclip the dummy covers on your current steering, plug in the controls and voila! Wiring is already there in the GLX!
Maybe pop in at a dealer and ask before swapping the complete steering.

Re: Replacement of standard steering wheel with multi function?
I've wondered the same thing, but more from the perspective of my 2008 GLX steering wheel feeling too thin and cheap.
For me I prefer a slightly thicker wheel (I have large hands and miss this from my GLS shorty.
This may seem weird, but a lot of what one experiences in a car is via the steering wheel.
Anyone have an idea of how easy it would be to change the whole steering wheel?

Some cars you can just pull it off but I think these steering wheels there are screws at the back of the steering wheel you have to undo.
Once you have the centre horn pad off you then dissconnect the lug for the horn. Right in front of you will be a fairly large nut.
You might need a helper to help you with this as it's normally very tight. Or lock your steering and undo the nut with a socket and power bar. The replacement wheel should fit on like a glove.

It should not be too difficult. You need to remove the horn centre pad.dwinter wrote:I've wondered the same thing, but more from the perspective of my 2008 GLX steering wheel feeling too thin and cheap.

The best is to search in a scrap yard or breakers yard where all the wrecked cars are and look for a GLS pajero that's been scrapped or written off.dwinter wrote:Thanks Sean - I now just need to find a wheel

The airbag I'm not so sure of. I forgot about that. When u remove the horn centre pad you should see the airbag all neatly wrapped up. There should be another wire or pipe to this that you can dissconect. Best is to look up the how to videos on YouTube for clarification.G3PajV6 wrote:What about the airbag.
