Hi Everyone,
Looking for a replacement break accumulator for my 3.5 V6 Pajero GDI 2002. Any suggestions where to find a cost effective parts supplier?
Regards,
Francois

Re: Brake accumulator
Hi Francois
My 2004 LWB 3litre started chirping last week and has been diagnosed with a brake accumulator defect so am also looking for a replacement. Note that you've had no replies but expect you've not been sitting on your hands and maybe you found something elsewhere?
I'm in Zim which complicates things by a factor of at least ten but before I start a search in Europe perhaps this post will be noticed by somebody with some SA suggestions? Or maybe you resolved your problem and have a pointer or two.
Sure would appreciate comment
Regards
Graham

Re: Brake accumulator
I suggest you have a look at some of the online breakers yards. I managed to find a good one in Pretoria North when my accumulator died. The part cost was a quarter of the the dealers price, which in 2017 was R44000.
Hope this helps a bit.

Re: Brake accumulator
Hi Francois
This is my 1st post but let's see if I can help with your problem.
My brake accumulator started screaming as well. Sound like I forgot my wifes cat in there after the last oil change.
The only place I could find it was at Mitsubishi East Rand.
You can buy the accumulator separate there around R3800 and if you ask nice 20% discount on that.
Could not find it anywhere else.
Other branches sell the whole Throttle housing with Accumulator for R44000.
Scrapyards and second hand shops sell the Throttle Housing/brake booster and Acc with pump at about R10 000.
Also do not break it up.
See if this helps.

Re: Brake accumulator
Last point.
Seems like East Rand Mitsubishi is the best to find Grey Import vehicle parts from.
They the only ones that can search engine parts on the Grey Imports.

Re: Brake accumulator
Hi Guys
I solved my problem by obtaining a new, genuine part, from Dubai. Cost was US245 (R3500 or thereabouts) delivered Harare. Not sure how one would do it in SA but it arrived inside two weeks. The SA people quoted me R4800. They had no idea who Discount was!
Glad to get the problem sorted. Was making loud screeches, scarey stuff. Cut the old one open and could not see where the problem was as the diaphragm seemed in one piece but I guess under the pressures involved it would be a different story. The casing is about 8mm wall thickness so some serious pressure applied.
Thankfully not a common problem according to my repairer although he has seen the problem before.

Re: Brake accumulator
Hi Ronald
Got the part through Burj Auto, 63 Harare Drive, Marlborough. Best access is turn left off Mazoe Road. As I said I paid US$245 and they wanted payment t in advance, nothing unusual in Zimbabwe. With current situation I'm not sure how they are treating orders from the public but they're efficient and I was confident that everything would work as they said - and it did.
Would suggest in the light of fuel issues here that you ring them with your VIN number and ask them for a pro forma, which they will email to you and you can then proceed from there. I dealt with Ofry +263 77 306 8326. Part number for mine (may vary depending on VIN) was 4630A011 and the official part description "Accumulator Brake Booster".
Hope that helps. Good luck!
