Oregon550 or GPSMAP 62sc

Tue May 08, 2012 9:19 am

after a while i found 2 gps i like to use for off road tracking and i cannot decided between the Oregon 550 and the GPSMAP 62sc.

Does it come preload with maps or just a base map?

what other maps do i need to buy?
Sub Saharan-Africa streetmaps
Southern Africa Topo & Rec

Do i still need to get T4A on it as well?

Only advantage of the 550 is the camera which IMO is a waste of money. 62 is a very nice unit but not sure its worth the premium

Nowadays the units aren't normally sold with maps, but I'd get Topo and Rec as well as T4A

Which one did you go for Johan? I'm also looking at getting a 62 but cant decide whether to get an s or a sc with the camera. Is it worth the extra money?
