Re: Barberton TIE IN THE DOTS 2015
I might. But I dont think it is worth it to keep as the track is not open to the public as far as I understand.

Re: Barberton TIE IN THE DOTS 2015
A plantation route??
Grab Google Earth and try to find the following dots:
From Barberton follow Kaapmuiden road to Louws Creek (dot1).
Turn right and follow track up mountain past Barbrook mine to Shiyalongubo dam (dot2).
Follow track back through Pedlar's Bush towards Havelock Road (dot3).
Turn left towards Bulumbu until about 2 km past the Lomati stream and turn right into plantation (dot4).
Drive up the Lomati valley along plantation tracks until you clear the plantation near the Lomati watershed (dot5).
Grab low range and turn left searching for the old Power Line Road. Stop for lunch on the PLR (dot6).
Return to dot5, turn left and continue down the other side of the mountain towards the Moodies Estate (Moodie was the surveyor that laid out the railway line to Lorenzo Marques). At the top of the Piano Staircase one should stop for a late afternoon tea (dot7).
Drop down the staircase and enter Barberton from the other side.
OR,
Follow me for the day.

How am I going to steal petrol from Cloyd's car?
Where did I put my Windhoek?
Spade or chemical when I get back to camp?
How am I going to get those smelly diesels up the mountain?

Roelf,
Petrol is no problem if you have a long range tank!!!
From Daleen and myself: thanks for a lovely few days. Pse start planning for next year. I am sure lr-tanks can be fitted before then to take care of one of your "problems".
Thanks again,
Cloyd & Daleen

Some feedback on Frik's rat-eaten SWB. He brought it home yesterday evening and is happy with the result. Original R60k quote was whittled down to R14k (including the 75k service) in the end. We will go through the car with a good light and a strong looking glass this afternoon, before the rugby.

Excelent stuff!!!
That sounds decent enough.
I still think that was an Arab mouse looking for some petrol fuel. Diesel just tastes too bad.
