Hi to all, i drive a 95 mitsubishi pajero mini 659cc 16v sohc on a daily basis,i have been searching the net looking for any information relating to this vehicle but as yet very little is known about them,so much so that it's not even possible to get an owners manual let alone a workshop manual.
Not sure if there are many or even any of these in S A but i'm hoping i will get a rough idea from this forum if there is,i reckon there are a few pajero juniors on the go in S A but they are not quite the same.
Forgot to mention i'm in Ireland ,i have various other vehicles mainly vintage porsche / and bikes.
So hopefully i might get some info here on the pajero mini.

Re: Pajero mini
Unfortunately not too many Pajero mini's in South Africa as it was never officially brought into the country, which is a shame really as I think it would have sold well if priced and marketed correctly. So you might not get a huge response on here.
There are however a few imported models running around and also some in our neighbouring countries of Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique etc.
They are very nice vehicles and yours look in excellent shape!

Re: Pajero mini
By the way. You mention that the junior and mini differ. What exactly are the main differences.

Re: Pajero mini
the junior is slightly bigger than the mini,+ it has an 1100cc motor, mind you they both came in 16v sohc as well as 20v dohc turbo ,mine is manual where as the majority of them are auto.
I don't think either the junior or mini were sold internationally, they are all jap imports as far as i know.

Re: Pajero mini Lovely vehicle
Hi All,
This mini really looks good, yet a pity we cannot have them. Would have been ideal for quick weekend getaways. If a person would be able to get hold of one, what would the spares situation be?
Hope you have lots of fun with it.
Regards

First thing i did was order a new timing belt and tensioner, fairly sore €170.00 or in R2050,i had to go to the main dealer they will supply any part needed at a cost, there are no spurious parts available,i know because i tried every avenue.
Its a great little jeep and goes where a lot of the bigger models struggle,i took it into a very soft swamp or bog if you like and it went through it no bother i even stopped in the middle and reversed just to see if it would, probably a lot is down to its lighter weight.
Wish i was near the namid desert would be great to see how it goes on the dunes, the beach is not the same.

Re: Pajero mini
I myself have a Pajero Junior. Bought for the wife for city travel here in Mozambique. Now she doesn't get a chance to drive it. I love the vehicle. It has the 1100 motor (being a Junior). The mini is slightly shorter with a 667cc motor (some models had a turbo!). And of course mine is auto.
It is a shame it was never sold in SA - it would have kicked Suzuki and all the other "mini" 4x4's. This is a "full" 4x4 with low range (and of course select shift which means like on big brother you can shift to 4H from 2H up to 80km/h.
I ordered spares from Mitsubishi in Kuilsriver. Fairly easy - give them VIN number and they get it for you - some spares had to come from Japan, but some they actually had in stock in JHB.
It is sad that there is almost no way of registering one in South Africa.
But yes to get a owners manual is almost impossible - and I could not source a workshop manual - although there is talk of one that has been translated from Japanese but I could not find a reliable seller yet.

Re: Pajero mini
As you said there are only jap service manuals,no workshop manuals, there is supposed to be a translated user manual available from the pocuk pajero owners club uk but i would be more interested in the workshop manual.
The mini is a 659cc 16 valve sohc ,i also have a 2wd/high 4wd /low 4wd function that can be shifted between 2wd and high 4wd up to 80 kmh, mine is a 5speed manual with air con,and it will go virtually anywhere you take it,mind youy in mozambique you have plenty of rough terraine to try it out on.
