My pajero was jumpstarted with the poles switched. It was connected for about 20 seconds.
What I currently know is
The battery was flat when tried to start this morning
I then tried to jump startit from ather battery
The alternator 120 amp fuse is blown.
The abs 10amp fuse in the car was blown
The window wiper fuse.
All other fuses are ok
The positive pole an the battery melted.
The connector on the positive pole is now loose - I dont know if that happened before or after I fried it.
After outsurance jumpstrted the car it drove but the abs lights was on and braking required allot of effort.
We then parked the car and left it for the rest of the day. Currently the lights all come on when turning the egnition for 20 seconds after which they die and the center diff light starts to flash.
I smelled something last night in the garage that I now think might have been related.
The battery is currently out of the vehicle and being charged.
Any advise or Ideas on what else might be dead.?

Have a search on POCUK . An owner there describes completely recharging his battery in reverse polarity and trying to run the engine.

It has given me nightmares since friday.
But it seems they dont die that easily.
I have checked all the fuses again and replaced the 120amp fuse with a 100 amp one - its the bigest that midas stock.
It seems just pressing it down does not help yoi have to bolt it back in place before it works.
Everything works except the radio and arial. Their fuses are in a yellow holder that I cant seem to open yet.
But it seems they dont die that easily.

I still dont know why it did not start o friday morning will need to look into that.
And I need to check the alternator as it is on the wrong side of the fuse

HI think that loose clamp was the cause of not starting. They require a lot of juice to turn! Those clamps are made from lead and stretch over time leading to a not so good contact. Replace clamp or fasten the current one properly if it still works and you should be A OK!

Ps That 120 amp fuse I could only get at the agents and they had to order for me as well. Cost a pretty penny as well. Dont ask how I blew mine. It is a story for the campfire on the next Pajero outing
