I think it is a converted LWB. Look at the pics hereunder and also notice the difference in the rear wheelarch in your sample against these.
A 1978 SWB
and a 1983 LWB

Re: 1980 Landcruiser 40 series
I am waiting for the VIN number so ill have an awnser then, I know the engine was changed along with the gearbox. I saw another with the exact same wheel arc on LC forum so we will see. I bought this 4x4 blindly cause Ive been looking for one for almost three years. If I bought a conversion ill be a bit dissapointed but still even to fin a convestion like this. The other possibility could be that the wheel arches could have been modified. Ive seen guys do that but i wont find out until i finally picked up the 4x4 or the VIN numer has been sent

I own 2 swb cruisers and looking at yrs . That line above wheel arch is not orig and the fuel filler area not either . Yrs could have been orig but they do rust alot so yrs possibly been repaired . The roof is a one piece fiberglass unit so if was a lwb u should see a join . Join the landcruiser club SA . Very knowledgable and helpful guys on the legends section . Still a very nice vehicle u have . What motor and box in yrs . Send me a pm if you need more assistance . Am a huge fan of those legends .

I found the out where my LC came from. It is a conversion that that Snyman 4x4 did a view years back with a 2h 4L Diesel engine and a 5 speed gearbox.
