Update time again, Made it out to the farm to start smashing out the interior, and good progress was made, basically ready to come back and just weld it up. shes slowly getting there. hopefully next break the body work is done. Im clearly horrible at quoting this type of work.. haha.

Shes done and headed for paint. the mechanical will go quickly. happy with how it looks multiple different colours so one solid colour should look mint.

Since shes at the paint shop I had time to fab up some steel racks and clean up the container. then with a new empty area I rolled in the donor and began stripping the trans and a few other goodies I want for the ol girl.

I suggest that you be wary about how much is skimmed off the head and only do it if it is absolutely necessary. The pistons at TDC are level with the top of the cylinder block, so the clearance between the piston and the head at TDC is only the thickness of the head gasket.

Since 1999 I have owned two Mk1 Pajeros identical to yours. My wife and I have travelled in a Mark 1 all over the southern half of Africa including a trip to Nairobi and back and we recently tackled some of the Eastern Cape passes including the Bastervoetpad Pass.

You have done yourself a big favour. No electronics - apart from the glow plug timer, which usually has to be replaced with a push button on the dash and most mechanical spares are available at reasonable cost from Midas because the early Colts are identical.

One word of advice - do not use Goodyear RAM fan belts. Use only Mitsubishi belts. Please contact me if you want more info.

Part way through paint and looking amazing. very happy with how factory it looks. still has black pin stripes to come. All that effort in metal forming clearly paid off.
