I want to fit 16'' steel rims to a LWB 2010 3.2

Sun Nov 02, 2014 8:13 pm

I have purchased four 16' steel rims to fit on my 2010 LWB 3.2 DID. According to a tyre size calculator the 265/75/16 is the same size as the 265/65/17. What I want to know is there anybody that has done this and what is the biggest size that you can fit without adverse effects. I have read that if the Tyres are to big the torque converter does not lock up. Now this is "Greek" for me and I do not have sufficient knowledge to understand the technical detail. Any advise offered?

16" rims wont fit over the calipers of a gen4 lwb, some peeps have grind them down, but my sanity prevents me from doing it or advising anyone else.

Re the TC, the TC will not lockup which will cause over heating of the TC
The TC locks when engine speed is stable and enough torque is produced the efectively illiminate the TC.
The TC is there to handle different speed between the input shaft and G'Box

Hi

I know that 16" Pajero alloys won`t fit the 2007 and newer Pajero (that came with the 17" alloys), because their Inside Diameter does not clear the calipers. But the steel rims will be 8-10mm bigger inside diameter than the alloys becasue steel wall thickness is much less than alloy - did you ever try to fit them (the fronts in particular)?

I was wondering about this too
