To me the best points are:

Increase in engine output:
The new figures are 140 kW and
441 Nm, compared to 121 kW and
373 Nm from the outgoing motor.
Garmin GPS:
The most up-to-date GARMAP navigation
system is a standard feature across the
range – the route mapping is displayed on the
6.5” digital touch-screen monitor. Of interest
to current Pajero owners is that this navigation
system is compatible with previous generation
models and can be retrofitted through
Mitsubishi dealerships.

This paragraph caught my eye:
Compared to systems such as Land Rover’s
Terrain Response and Jeep’s Selec-Drive,
Super Select might seem a bit antiquated,
but it remains a solid system that gets the job
done.
I really don't know how to respond.

Antiquated?
an·ti·quat·ed (nt-kwtd)
adj.
1. Too old to be fashionable, suitable, or useful; outmoded. See Synonyms at old.
2. Very old; aged: "The antiquated Earth, as one might say,/Beat like the heart of Man" (William Wordsworth).
anti·quated·ness n.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition copyright ©2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Updated in 2009. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved.
Is anything that is older than a few years, necessarily "less good" than the current offerings?

Gerhard

I don't think the term "antiquated" is the problem. Super Select is the 4WD system, whereas Terrain Response and Selec-Drive are more implementations of Traction Control. Completely different systems.

Wrong? Right?

What might be "antiquated" in the minds of some is the use of a lever rather than a button to select 4WD

I don't care who says what.

The transfer case as well as the 4m41 engine origins are in the 1980's and has been improved over the decades rather than redesigned.

That is why they work so good and that is why they are so reliable.

Good solid engineering. Yes please!

fancy gadgets with no chance of a fix in the bush... No thanks!
