thanx Cats i will give them a callCATS wrote:Centurion Gearbox and Clutch. R22k will probably be all inclusive of a new Dual Mass Flywheel which is around R12k alone I believe. My whole story was about R12k which included the repairs. I bought the parts directly from Mitsu and gave it to the gearbox guys to fit. The pressure plate only was around R1500 iIrc.

Re: TOP GUNS
Pretty cool that your mileage has to be more than 305k in order to have a shot at the Top 20. Perhaps we should start a "little league" for the next bunch of places, say 21st to 40th?
Our DiD is now at just over 275000 km and has given us absolutely fantastic service all the way. As far as I can recall we have replaced the brake discs, the oil pressure sender and the companion shafts at the back. Other than that it was all routine servicing.

Re: TOP GUNS
Just to keep my details updated as well. Although it seems I am far from the Top Guns list. But in 3.2Did terms I must be in the top 10 or so?
I am now on 282452km on my 2001 3.2Did manual on engine and drivetrain.
Engine still original but I have done a lot of preventative maintenance like rubber pipes etc over the years and also replaced injectors on 100000km and intend doing so again on 300000km. Previously I had to replace wheelbearings, side shaft clips on the rear, timing chain guide, oil pressure sender unit, brake booster under warantee recall(but mined failed before then as well). On 280000 I had to replace the Dual mass Flywheel after it failed catastrophically on my December tour without any warning and decided to do the clutch and pressure plate etc at the same time. I previously had the clutch alone done when I had the gearbox out to fix a worn clutch retaining plate. I stuck with the original Mitsu parts and did not consider a solid flywheel conversion. Parts were readily available in South Africa and the DMF alone was R14000. By the way it weighs 28kg if you ever need to give the weight to anyone to get it couriered to you.
The rest of the repairs and maintenance was either self inflicted or normal service items as far as I can recall.

Re: TOP GUNS
What about the oldest Pajero with the lowest kilometres? For example, I have 3 1998 Gen 2 LWB 3500 GDI with 82,580, 92,859 and 105,204 kilometres, respectively!
This could make some jealous!
