How much mileage had your Pajero done? 244 000
Is it the original motor? Yes, 100%
Any major work? No, just the regular maintenance at Mitspro and reconditioned the starter motor at 240 000km.

This baby takes me to work everyday and visits Southern Africa on week-ends and holidays,
It's also getting ready to visit Moremi and Central Kalaharo next month (any tips for vehicle prep welcome!)

I must start by saying that there is no way 150 000 kms is in any way a high mileage for any Pajero.

I have seen, driven and in fact purchased and resold Pajero vehicles with over 500 000 kms without any problems.

MOST IMPORTANT thing to do boys......SERVICE THEM if you want them to be trouble free. DO YOUR SERVICES!

Car One of mine

2001 3.5 V6 5 speed manual. 5 door.
254 000 kms, being a Pajero, only just starting to run in.
First engine.
Serviced as per what the factory stipulate, so being a Pajero, NO problems at all. Full service history, important to have.

Car Two of mine

2000 Pajero Blister Fender 3.5 V6 SWB 5 speed. Rear section of the roof professionally removed to make it a cabriolet.
261 000 kms, also still running in, as it is a Pajero.
First engine.
Serviced as per the factory instructions, as a result NO problems.

Both vehicle stand in my slate floor garage with no sealer on the floor and there is not a drop of oil under either vehicle.

The first one I mentioned has seen serious and hectic off road work in all the countries in Sub Saharan Africa and is still good to go anywhere any time.
The most important thing is to simply service them on a regular bases, and then they just don't give problems. I should know I have owner 8 in total and now in my retired years I buy and sell them when I can find one as when I sell them on there are never issues.
I my mind still the finest 4x4 in it's class and indeed in even much more expensive classes. Pajero vehicles, specially the petrol ones just don't give up.
Maintain them correctly and they go for ever without costing much at all.
Read any article on the Pajero vehicles and it is a stated fact that their reliability is legendary.

How much mileage had your Pajero done? 157021 miles , yes miles, which makes the old lady an old timer twice over
Is it the original motor? yes
Any major work? Not that I know off. Had to replace the alternator at the end of last year as it couldn't be reconditioned.
She needs a bit of paint work polish to be done but in all other aspects going strong.

Any major work? Brakepads at 90000 and 150000km, Thermostat at 150000km

Bought my 2006 3.2 did lwb second hand with 160k odd km on the clock. Regular servicing and vehicle is now at 384k km !!!! No problems (apart from replacing cracked head at 375k km) but now engine warning light comes on intermittently showing egr codes when diagnosed. Is it advisable to blank off egr ?? Vehicle is not smoking but seems to be a bit sluggish !!!

Any major work? Service every 7500 KM
Replaced the Brake Booster, major cost but supposedly not a repairable item at 200 000km
Electric aerial mast rack stripped twice (New mast cost R500 plus)
Battery changed every 3 time but have a dual battery system seems to last a long time
Fitted Compressor
Fitted dual petrol tank (extra 40 Litres)
Bundutec Rooftop tent
Fitted Springs and Shocks to give about 25 mm lift
Fitted Airbags in Rear Shocks

How much mileage had your Pajero done? 400 000 km (this morning)
Is it the original motor? Original Motor (everything original - water pump/aircon/)
Any major work? Diesel pump and injectors refurbished at 295 000km at Alan Black for R31 000, otherwise just shocks/brake discs + pads - R16 000/ 3 x batteries/ installed Racechip in 2015. Serviced at agents and indies.
Bought it in Sept 2010 with 100 142km on clock for R259 000 at Rivonia Toyota. Received R80 000 for my 2001 SWB and paid the rest cash.
Some interesting stats over 300 000km period I owned it:
R224 434 spent on maintenance/tyres/licenses (R0.75c/km)
R384 480 spent on diesel (R1.28/km)
32 162 litres of diesel used
average of 9.33km/l
My major concern currently is the changing of the gearbox and transfer case oils, I have never done it.
Can members please give some names of reputable garages to do this correctly (agents in Roodepoort quoted me R13 000!).

For heaven sake man, wake up. 150 000 kms is NOTHING at all for a Pajero.

It really bugs me when there is a product out there that is FAR SUPERIOR to Toyota and I mean that in all respects, Nissan. Ford and Isuzu and then on the site we start a high mileage club at 150 000 kms.

Any person with ANY knowledge of a Pajero will know from experience that when you start talking the 500 000 to 650 000 kms you start talking high mileage.

A Pajero with a service history that is intact and correct is still finding it's feet at 150 000 kms.

Do me a favour and give the product what it deserves and either raise the kilos or simply make a heading like " what is the mileage of your Pajero" but for heavens sake get rid of the 1502 000 kms High Mileage Club and stop insulting the brand.

Grumpy old man much? One would think a retiree has gathered some wisdom through the years to think before he spews such negativity. Being a keyboard warrior is not admirable; if you cannot be a positive influence in the world, then keep quiet.

I received a message from Tinusk as regards my post as to the High Mileage Club.

Shame the poor guy says I am negative, obviously does not understand the content of my message.

Let me explain for those such as poor Tinusk.

There is nothing at negative about my post towards the product.

The product is an outstanding product in EVERY respect.

What I was trying to point out to those who actually own or have owned a Pajero is that mileage is never an issue as regards these vehicles.

They are capable of very high kilos as long as they are correctly serviced, and not by a friend of a friend who thinks he knows what he is doing.

A better mileage for a High Mileage Club would be around the 300 000 plus mark .

With a heading like it is at the moment, on a Mitsubishi forum brings a perception to the readers that 150 000 kms is high mileage for a Pajero, which it is definitely NOT at all.

Rather call the heading. something like " What Is Your Vehicles Mileage," so people wanting to read up on a Pajero do not read and article where, with the current heading it seems as if 150 000 kms is high mileage.

I easily sell a Pajero with 250 000 kms on the clock at well over the market value within days of placing an advert, as long as it has correctly filled in service history from reputable service outlets.

I am in fact uplifting the product and telling it as it is. No way am I at all negative as regards a superior product.

It is about time other Pajero owners also uplift the product, as Toyota owners always do.

There is no aspect in any way that any Toyota product is superior to a Mitsubishi product, It is those who own Toyota's that think they are the best product.

What is needed is for Mitsubishi owners to adopt the same attitude as the Toyota owners do, as we actually have a better product.

You only have to read any 4x4 article and Toyota owners always seem to have some or other problem, but you never read of a Pajero having a hassle.

So to Tin Tin Tinusk and those who think as he does, please reread my article and note is is one of praise for the product, and that is speaking from years of experience with working with the product. I have never worked for Mitsubishi ever, just owned dozens of them and always have several that I buy and sell country wide, as you sell them and actually make friends out of the buyers as they are always so happy with the vehicle..

Just by the way I currently own 5 Pajeros, both petrol and diesel, long and short wheel bases and manual and automatic versions, so I know what I am talking about.

I hope this clears the air as to my views on the product.
