Alternator for 2008 3.8l V6 Stompie

Sun Aug 20, 2017 11:37 am

Dear Pajero's

My 2008 3.8l V petrol Stompies alternator is kaput. Part number A3TG3791 1800. No spares available from distributer. This alternator apparently works via/with the cars on board computer.

If anyone knows where to find one second hand, or has experience with an alternative solution, please assist. Stompie only has 100 000 k's, so not ready to scrap at all.

Kind regards

Johann

Try & find out what of the alternator went kaput. If it is a transistor, it should be relatively easy to replace it. Most of the electronic suppliers should be able to supply such a transistor

[I had a problem with my 2004 3.8 v6 gls in the Kruger National park in December 2016. I found a guy on the internet who really went out of his way to assist me. He sourced a brand new pirate alternator from some company in Johannesburg for around R8000.00. His name is Andy from Andys Auto electrical Hectorspruit tel 013 7900513. I did have my Mitsubishi Alternator repaired in Witbank when I arrived back home. If you do not come right with Andy then I will try and find out who repaired my original alternator. This was sent to Joburg or Pretoria for the repairs.

Hello,

I had a similar problem with my vehicle (alo othe 3.8L V6) - I sent it to Steve's Autoclinic in Midrand - there they send it on to one of their Auto electricians, and they repaired the alternator with out replacing it totally. It is however pricey.
