I’m looking for HELP
On buying a
1994 Pajero
CDi Multi V6 3000
.. 291,000 km
It has No service history ,
but new tyres , and new starter .
.. a few small rust spots showing
Interior Good / well looked after
Is 40K a good price ?
What’s it really worth ?
Are these saught after ?
What’s a realistic expectation on fuel consumption ?
What should I look out for please ?
Are spares for old classics like this readily available ?

Re: HELP requested on 1994 v6 Manual / petrol
I have a high-mileage (370k) 1994 Pajero 3000 - extremely reliable and 2nd-to-none off-road. On-road, slightly underpowered.
Only problems I experienced has been on the engine: rebuilt at 330k due to one piston's oil rings worn - as I had to open up the motor took the opportunity to rebuild. If purchasing again, I would probably do a compression test as relativly high-mileage.
My 2cw to your questions below:
It has No service history , [mine is serviced privately - find a goof mechanic]
but new tyres , and new starter .
.. a few small rust spots showing [mine has signs of rust around the windscreen - easy and cheap to remove]
Interior Good / well looked after
Is 40K a good price ? [reasonable - what extras are included?]
What’s it really worth ? [I would value mine between R35k to R40k - includes dual battery, built-in compressor, inverter, etc.]
Are these saught after ? [not sure - reliable and and real workhorse]
What’s a realistic expectation on fuel consumption ? [on-road 14-15 litres per 100km, off-road anything up to 20 litres per 100km]
What should I look out for please ?
Are spares for old classics like this readily available ? [yes, but you may have to buy on eBay for some parts]
Hope this helps
