The 140kw version came out with only one dipstick in the engine bay and a touch screen Caska radio (which is a poor unit). If the radio is still the old Rockford unit then it has the 120kw engine.
If there is a difflock there will be a button in front of the 4x4 gear lever

The 140kw engine was introduced in SA in July 2010 together with common rail technology.
There are two ways to identify the new engine: 1. The new engine had no Autogearbox oil dipstick and the gearbox code was
V5AWF where the old 120 kW engine gearbox code was V5A51.
There is a small data plate on the engine hood, bottom right corner where you will find this info.
This comes from the horse's mouth at Mercedes SA / Mitsubishi ,

Viewed the Pajero yesterday in Durban at We Buy Cars. Its a 2010 registered in Jan 2010,going for R239k. It definitely is the 120kw engine. Was hoping it was the 140kw motor. Is it a good deal?
A Mom's taxi with 92000km on the clock. Still in good condition for a 9yr vehicle. Test drove it , but with no SUV driving experience, felt OK. Would appreciate it if someone in Durban could test drive it for me. They could PM me.
Is there a big difference in the feel between the 120 and 140kw engine? Doing the Dekra technical inspection today.
Will soon have to either pull the trigger or not depending on the technical report and if possible a test drive by one of the members in Durban .
Your feedback much appreciated.

That’s a good price for the mileage. There is a difference in the feel of the two engines but to be honest, for what you are getting at that price I think it’s a good deal. Also, you have a decent radio at least.

I think too that it is a good price. Take it.
The 120kW engine is most capable of towing the max weight and give you a pleasant driving experience.
If, at a later stage you feel like Hamilton by no means put a Dastek chip in --not too expensive but gives you a little more oomph and most likely also a little fuel saving over longish trips. I had a chip in my previous 120 W engine (2005 model) and enjoyed it tremendeously.
ENJOY !!!

Thanks guys
I've attached the Dekra Diagnostic Report done today and outlines three faults:
- ABS System
- Transfer Case
- SRS Airbag
I'm not too sure what the errors relate to and if they are serious.
Would appreciate it if someone could assist in deciphering these - they include what look like fault codes.
Thanks

The sunroof glass rubber seal is also warped and brittle. Water seemed to be seeping slightly through the cracks on to
the gutter board. Any ideas on who could sort it out at reasonable cost . Dealers can be too expensive.
Thank You.

To be very honest...
I would not buy this Pajero and I hope you havn't yet.
It looks likme many niggling problems.
For that money, carry on looking and try and avoid the company you have bought it from.
