Price ended up being R500 - with charger (220V and 12V) and new antenna and new battery.
Just an update - picked up the radios... The model is actually PT2208 (a slightly older model, but with the same specs).

Hi Simon
Am I correct in assuming that the handheld radios (3-5w output) do not need to be licensed (same as the one's they sell over the counter at Cape Union Mart)? I think it is only the higher wattage output / fixed radios & handhelds, that are requiring to be licensed
??

You do need licenses for the radios discussed in this thread. The license free ones available in the retailers are only 0.5W as I understand it, and any radio higher than this needs to be licensed. Eric can give more details on this.nino62 wrote:Hi Simon

I would like to organise our own POCSA license but in order for it to be worth my while I will need minimum 25 members to commit to licenses.
