Re: 23 Dec Canca Fynbos Trip
Bad signposting on the trail
Bad maintenance - need to spend some time with a buffing pad and polish
But then.......
What a car!
The torque with low range and an auto box made slow rock crawling a walk in the park. And then it had enough oomph to get up a sand dune first time where an older style 2700 hilux raider failed 4 times before making it
And then I had road tyres and he had duellers
.
Pictures coming later

Re: 23 Dec Canca Fynbos Trip
JDV, Vleesbaai is a really nice relaxing drive, beach sand from start to finish. Chances of any damage, scratches etc is really less than in town Take a picnic basket with and if there are kids invloved, let them pack their swimming gear as well. Close to the end of the trail you park on the beach ( legit ) and the kids (big & small ) get a chance to take a swim in the ocean. Here you can also enjoy some snacks etc while watching everybody attempting THAT last dune to go back.
Please, don't be afraid to air the tyres down properly, and have tons o' fun
Drive safely and enjoy
and a Merry Christmas to all

Re: 23 Dec Canca Fynbos Trip
I think vleesbaai would be your better option. You have to phone and book though as it is a guided trail only.
Canca fynbos doesn't have many obstacles and is badly kept at the moment. My car is badly scratched and will probably need a few hours of hard grafting with polish to remove all the scratches.
If you are still in vleesbaai on monday I can then maybe join you. I think today is out for me.

Re: 23 Dec Canca Fynbos Trip
Hi Guys,
Thanks, we have a holiday place in Vleesbaai and I have done the sand trial a couple of times , it is always fun
I have never done the Canca trial but prefer not to do a trail wher my after hours work is more than the trial itself unless it has AWSOME scenery or views
Thanks again for the input and if you plan to do the Vleesbaai Trial I'll join unless the surf is good 1

Marius,
Thanks for the pics and the heads-up on the scratches.
Have you mentioned it to the owners?
Anton

I did. They said tough luck.
I know it comes with the territory but they could have at least warned us. I'm ok with buffing out the scratches but the Tuna owner is very upset!
