Hi Guys
Had major repairs done to my pajero in July of last yesr when a brand new 4m41 sub assy ,fuel pump etc was fitted (approximately R151000-00 for repairs) 2100 kms down the road i notice it smokes when i start cold or hot but just for a while, i had it on the machine today and it shows 2 problems 1. injection firing solenoid valve no control and 2. boost pressure control valve faulty,. we found excessive oil in inlet and intercooler pipe and cleaned all and also blocked the EGI valve , the smoke is minimal at the moment but was told that it will smoke again. I believe that the sealed oil breather in the tappet cover may be blocked, pls confirm if the enjine has a sealed breather. i was also told that i should grind away the welding (due to it being sealed) remove the old gauze etc and refit with new and seal again. is that possible.
thanks Calvin
does it use oil?
can you remove one of the boost pipes and post up a pic to show the oil quantity in the pipes.
smoking can be normal to an extent.
is it black smoke or white smoke or blue smoke? is it paired with rough running?
disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and reconnect to see if it is still doing it.

Sorry there i actually e-mailed you as i did not know how to reply but eventually sorted it out as well, since fitting the new sub etc. she has only done 2400 kms and the oil level is still the same so no it does not use oil, the battery was also disconnected overnight (last night).
fill up the tank to the brim and add 500ml 2-stroke oil to the diesel.
use it until the fuel light comes on. Repeat again. See how it goes.
Mine was standing for awhile before I bought it and smoked a bit on startup. I blocked the EGR that helped a bit but after 3-4 tanks of diesel mixed with 2-stroke (and a full service) she now runs as smooth as a new one!

keep an eye on it as we still don't know what the actual issue is. I'm hoping it's just some old gunk that needs to get out but there may be an underlying problem.
keep checking the oil levels, coolant levels and keep an eye on the rear mirror to make sure you are not overfuelling (black smoke).
May be best to let the guys know that did the repairs in writing about your issues or seek a professional to make a more accurate diagnosis.

I have decided to go up to Windhoek to the repairers where the job was done as its still under warranty, will let you know when they are done, thanks
i would apreciate if you could keep us updated
i have the same problem but it is just white smoke on cold start
it last about 30 sec then clean (ould it be a gloplug?)
