Maitland mines
Hi All

On saturday, I went on my first offroad outing to gain some training at Maitland mines Port Elizabeth

gained a lot of respect and knowledge about me vehicle. The 3.2 have awsome idleing torue and power. Was a little :( :( sad when hearing the sound of the 3 V6's that were with. Love the sound.

Now we are planning OFF Camber as our next outing. Pole crossing and more advanced

Good to see you guys enjoying your 4x4's! Offcamber will definately be a lot more fun than Maitland Mines. I've done Maitland mines 30 or 40 times but I stopped going there 2 years ago because it just became too boring.....besides the fun sand pit and the challenging "Rock", it was just a bad gravel road :(

Did you go up the "Rock" and is it the same rock in this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3aJGc_S0Ik - This is me going up(on the third attempt) in a discovery with tiny tyres in 2007

The reason I ask is the Algoa Toyota 4x4 Club guys were there as well yesterday and they say the "Rock" in the video had a 600mm step at the bottom and they couldn't even go down it, let alone up.

Hi Zantus

Thanks, this was our first outing to get to know what our vehicles could do for 2 off us. I was the only one the try the Rock, and yes, the same one as in your video. However, our trainer said that we should not try this as the step up was to much and I did not have a front locker, We did not want to damage our 4X4's. I went up to the point of the step up and then had to negociate the reverse down the hill again. Did this for experience and training and also to see what the Pajero could be. We saw the Toyota club members later in the day.

Had a fun time trying to get stuck in the sandpit and trying different options in driving.

Now cannot wait for the next outing
