This post is a litte random, but before I actually tried this it was difficult to estimate what exactly one can fit in a gen 3 swb pajero.
On a recent Kgalagadi trip I removed the back seats (very easy - took about 10 minutes) and was able to easily fit the following:
6 ammo boxes with food and other camping gear
electric coolerbox
small table and 2 large'ish chairs
5 man tent
50 litres of water (10 x 5l bottles)
compressor
2 large tog bags for clothes
spade
small gas cooker
soft, medium-sized cooler bag
small water basin
braai grid
and lots of other small bits and pieces...
Here are a couple of snaps to illustrate:
dwinter,
Thanks for the info.
There are three over riding issues when overlanding with a SWB:
1)The rear seats must be removed - leave the kids at home to look after the pets!
2)The camp fridge must be humble or even left at home.
3)Fuel availability. If fuel is going to be a problem, then the roofrack and the jerrycans must be added.
Any trip is possible after meeting those conditions.
