I recently had my flywheel/clutch replaced and after the shop pulled the gearbox the 2nd time, I noticed my fuel consumption went way up. Is there something they might not have reconnected that could cause this? I also noticed a hissing sound when accelerating past 2500 RPM's, but it's not doing that any longer.
Any ideas?????
Thanks!!!!
have you checked through a full tank's use?
Yes and around town it got 7.5km/L. Before the work it would 8.5 - 9. Yesterday we came home from Potch and drove 130km/hr to 140km/hr and my fuel light came on just after we had driven 509 km...that stinks.
have you smelt underneath the car for a diesel leak. maybe they pinched a fuel hose.
Other than that, can you elaborate why the box was pulled and what they did to the gearbox or whether another was swapped in?

I had the flywheel, clutch,PP and bearing replaced. It runs and performs great...no flat spots and very responsive. I put a K&N air filter in it and the efficiency improved a little and performance increased, at least felt performance. After the second time the gearbox was pulled, to replace the PP and clutch disc with a new one instead on the old one that was resurfaced, I noticed the hissing or blowing sound when I accelerated and the mileage drop. I thought maybe the catalytic converter was plugging and the hissing was coming from the doughnut gasket on the exhaust not holding up under the back pressure, but it quit before I rodded out the converter. It runs better than it ever has...
