Hi
I have had my Gen 2 1996 Pajero 3.5 for about 5 months. A couple of days ago I stopped the car in the driveway. The next morning she struggled to start and the idling was irregular and there was no power. Still the same. Cannot even back out of the driveway!
So currently she starts, but just. Idles, just. Cannot rev. Sounds like only running on 1 cylinder.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Try unplugging the maf sensor and see how she runs
Hi Guys
thanks for the reply. Was unable to get to my pc this weekend.
I assume the MAF sensor is that little control box between the engine and the air filter? I did unplug that, but makes absolutely no difference.
It could be the fuel filter or pump. I will have to replace the filter first, then try to determine if the pump is faulty.

if unplugging the maf sensor makes no difference the problem will lie in either of these
ecu faulty
bad FPR
HUGE vacuum leak
dirty fuel filter
failing fuel pump
bad coil pack

Disconnect the fuel line returning to the tank and crank the engine see if fuel is pumping back to tank. If so fuel pump is ok, if not, replace pump (Colt 3l pump also fits and bosch have a replcement part for R800. Stealers will ask you R6890!)
Check the fuel filter also, it sounds that you have a problem with fuel pressure.

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the replys. The problem has been sorted out for close to R4000-00....eish. ECU.
Luckily a friend of a friend knew how to do this...I did the "easier" things you guys suggested but got nowhere.
Anyways, hopefully the biatch will keep working this time! haha
Thanks again.
