The engine in my Pajero Exceed GDI (imported from Japan Engine number 6G74-LK2236) has blown and is beyond repair. This is a 2000 year model
I would like to replace it with the following GDI engine (Engine number 6G74-BH9631) which is available in Botswana also imported to Botswana. Year model unknown
The questions are as follows:
How do i know if these engines are identiacal electricaly ( I believe there was a KW power change/reduction at the end of 1999 from 180kW at 5500 rpm and 343Nm at 4500 rpm detuned to just 162kW/348Nm)
Can I do a straight swop out of the engines and will the vehicle’s electronics/ computer be compatible with the new engine even if the have different power outputs
i have tried to get answers from Mitsubishi SA with no luck -they say they cant speak to Japan unless i have both chassis numbers -obviously i cant for the replacement engine -as it is just that an engine -
I dont believe Mitsubishi SA is trying to hard as it was imported directly to Bots.
Anyone know a contact in Japan?
