Misfire / Hesitation??
Hi guys
My 1998 3.5 has started with a hesitation / misfire when under load. the range is usually between 15-2500rpm but also up to 3000 rpm. I have replaced the sparkplugs but noticed a grey residue on the outside/porcelain part of the old and new plug. (This is only on one plug, the passenger side no2.) Is the ignition transistor faulty? Have also read up on the MAF, could it be this?

Second problem is with my long range fuel tank, seems one of the baffle plates have broken off. Is it usual for the sloshing sound when half full? There is the sloshing sound that has been joined by a nice load bang every time one changes direction!!
Is it advisable to repair it or just to look for a secondhand std replacement?
thanks,
Heine

Re: Misfire / Hesitation??
Heine,
I would suggest check out the coils and the power unit which is situated on top of manifold . It is a black flat device and controlls the coils which then gives power to the spark plugs.
I found out at my local Mitsu the coils are about R1600 each and there is three situated on right standing in front of engine. I am speaking under correction the power unit was about R3000 to R 4000-00.
I recently replaced the wholke spark plug wire set and that was about R800-00 for the set.
Good Luck
