My Gen3 3.2DID's 180,000km service is coming up in 7500km's. I see in the service schedule (at 90,000km - which should eb the same as the 180,000km service) they only check all the hoses and V-belts etc, they dont actually replace them. Is this wise? What would you definately replace at these km's?
I will watch this space as my car is on 179000 km and will be going for the service after I return from Kimberley this weekend. Will probably take it to Mitspro......
Hi,
The service schedule is a bit confusing in the book, as it ends at 90 000km...
The major services are every 45 000km and 60 000km... and they are different.
Every 45 000km - Front + Rear diffs + transfer case oil - lets call this Service 1
Every 60 000km - Brake fluid, Fuel filter, Gearbox oil - lets call this service 2
45 000km - 1
60 000km - 2
90 000km - 1
120 000km - 2
135 000km - 1
180 000km - 1 & 2 (i.e. both majoer services)
225 000km - 1
240 000km - 2
270 000km - 1
... etc.
Maybe I am wrong, but this is my experience...
The belts are checked at most services... mine were reaplced at around 120 000km or so...
Cheers
Greg

Greg,
My schedule goes up to 97,500km but it seems the major service is at 90,000km. They dont require the belts to be replaced, only checked.
What do the more experienced members say in this regard - should the belts be replaced regardless or should they just be checked? What else is a must to replace at these km's to prevent future problems/damage?

Sorry, mine does too... but the major service info is still as above.macjohnw wrote:Greg,

My main concern is this: On my previous Gen2.5 3.5V6 it was recommended that the timing belt and tensioners be replaced at 90,000km and 180,000km. Is this the same situation for the Gen3 3.2DID? (Does it have a belt or chain?)

Just had the 180 000 km service done at Mitspro. What a nice bunch of people.
Because the car was serviced about 1000 km ago when I bought it, I had it done again just to be sure that everything is being looked at by people who know their stuff. It is a major service and I am well satisfied with rhe service I got from Freek and his team.

What was done during this service?
