Spanjaard diesel system cleaner
I have bought the cleaner and added to the tank.

It smells almost identical to the mitsu fuel system cleaner, but half the price - https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2471

Engines seems a bit more clattery on cold start but once warm runs much smoother.

Less smoke at idle.

R50 well spent in my books.

I started to use 50ppm diesel about 3 month ago and I can see the diffrence. Far less smoke when start up in the mornings and when warm and idle. The difference in cost of a tank diesel is about R24,00 at Engen and it is definitely worth it. I try the cleaners and 2 stroke oil and and and, but the major problem is that our diesel is not clean and the Pajero's will keep on smoking if you dont use cleaner diesel.

As said on another thread:
500 ppm diesel is not "dirtier", it only has a higher sulpher content.

I only use 500 ppm diesel. No problem...

The Exel station in Bloemhof, and I suspect other as well, has a renewable filter on the outside of the pump to satisfy and show customers that their diesel is clean from small particles.

I fill up at a Depo next to us. costs me 9.66/l for diesel, they also have the filter on the pump. I fill up with around 110l a shot and pour a 500ml sasol 2So> you should have seen the joggies face the first time I added 2So.

How often should/can one use this cleaner?

Re: Spanjaard diesel system cleaner
In most cases it's not even necessary as the pajero's don't seem to suffer from injector problems until they approach 300'000km.

The problem is two fold with age.

The tiny holes on the tips become clogged due to carbon deposits - mine are spotless as I use 250ml 2stroke oil per tank of diesel and that has the function of having a decarbonising burn. (If your EGR hasn't been blanked the carbon buildup is much worse.

The second is that varnish from the diesel in hot injectors build up on the needle and tip and springs inside the injectors and I think this is where the cleaner is useful.

I had some smoke at idle and after coasting when putting my foot down. I also had weird revving in park and Neutral paired with smoke.

I did the valve stem seals and it cured the ball of smoke after coasting but I still had funny revving in park and neutral and a little smoke at idle.

I have only used one treatment of the spanjaard diesel additive and it has made a massive difference. My engine now revs freely in park and neutral and the smoke is almost non existent at idle.

I would probably use it every 10 tanks or so but I still continue to use 250ml 2 stroke oil with every tank.

Sounds good. I also started using 200ml 2SO per tank and will get some of the Spanjaard cleaner next time round.
