I need some help - On my trip in June to Mozambique I had the unfortunate experience of the return oil pipe from my turbo burst. I lost nearly 5-6 litres of oil as I could not pull of immediately. I had a orange oil light come on but for the sake of me I can't remember if it was the low oil PRESSURE or low oil LEVEL light (reason: i did not know the pajero had a low LEVEL light...) - I just saw TROUBLE.
My question - what could have been damaged due to running low oil levels for 2-3 minutes. The only difference is that it "feels" (subjectively} as if it has less power, and on my last trip towing a heavy trailer up Schoemanskloof I saw a increase in water temperature (from just over 1/4 on the gauge to just under 2/4)
I have experienced no water level dropping.
My thinking is that I might have some turbo damage? I also see lots of smoke on first start in the morning (can't recall if this has started before or after the burst pipe)
Any ideas?

hopefully it was just the low oil level light.
If it was just the low oil level light you should still have had enough oil for the turbo and I'm assuming you weren't driving hard causing high boost when the low oil level light came on.
Best thing is to have the coolant tested for signs of headgasket failure and get a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what the oil pressure is like now.
NOTE : The orange oil light is low oil level
The red light is low oil pressure (This is the bad one)

Orange / Red it's all the same to me now...!
I wasn't driving hard at all (luckily) - no trailer/load, running 80km/h on straight road.
I am quite sure I could not have damaged the head/gasket due to low oil level/pressure? Rather damage to crank/bearings/pistons/etc? OR THE TURBO?
Any more guesses? I will however take it for pressure check just to be sure...
