Longevity 3.2Did?
OK. So how long does these 3.2DiD engines last?

I have just done 200 000km, trouble free on mine(see pic :D ) and intend keeping the vehicle for a long time still.

I have a work partner that sold his on 220 000km, engine still excellent.

One of the guys that used to work with me bought his father's Pajero, when his father bought a new BK Pajero, and that Pajero recently went in for its 260 000km service, still in good nick.

My other work associate, as you can see I am a good marketer for Pajero at work  , recently had his 200 000km service but 400km after the service the car came to a grinding halt when one of the pistons broke. Apparently they say that the injector was shot and this led to too high temps, leading to the piston failure. Seems like they only had to replace the piston with some other minor work done, no skimming of the head or bore work needed . R25 000 later and hopefully it is good to go. He is waiting to get it back this week.

So the history seem to indicate good lifespan.

Any other high- milers out there?

Re: Longevity 3.2Did?
The only problems I have heard of is 1 leaky diesel pump and 2 chain tensioners that needed replacement at high milage.

The top cylinder head workshop in East London hasn't seen one. EVER! :o

Seems like this is the cream of the crop when it comes to diesel engines.
Re: Longevity 3.2Did?
Our DiD is still a baby at around 183000 km, but those were totally reliable and hassle free kilometers. I have never been this happy with a vehicle.

I have heard of DiDs running to 400000 km faultlessly and the local agents don't seem to know of any hassles with the DiDs.

My engine is still relatively new (±45k).

When I wanted to know something about the Di-D, the workshop manager at the local franchise said that they have only serviced Di-D engines - they have never had one in for major repairs or the such.
