Pajero 3.5 gdi - SADC Owners
Signed up a couple of days ago and already spent some good hours reading priceless (NO B/SH!)information posted on this forum.
My intention is to open this new tread for an apparently disadvantaged category of Pajero owners: 2002 - 2006 3.5 GDI and I have the feeling that most of us are based in Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia etc.

3.5 GDI has got a bad reputation related to fuel quality that cause fatal engine damages.
But,
I guess few people know Mitsubishi Corporation has addressed the issue and starting with December 2001 they have changed some materials on fueling system and introduced them into production immediately. So, at least those with 2002 and up models should have this issue minimized. Also the 2001 and down owners can have a chance to fix the problem and swap to the new materials.

Last night I found this document posted some time ago.
Brian, I hope you don't mind refreshing this information for the interested owners of this forum.

Re: Pajero 3.5 gdi - SADC Owners
Hello,
Please see the story of my first Pajero 3.5 GDI in Southern Africa. Photos of blown gaskets and stripped engine head available.

Hope more GDI owners will join this thread.
At this moment my Pajero is in the "oficina" in Mpauto.
Will keep you posted as I presume will be interesting to know who you can count on in Mozambique.

Please stay in touch. Hopefully by Tuesday evening will be able to give you more feedback from my experience in Mozambique.

Catchy enough?... :-)

Re: Pajero 3.5 gdi - SADC Owners
I thought I should post the follow up of my 3.5 GDI story.
Remember?... Overheating?...

Hello Guys.
Back as promised. But no car. Yet... :(
First yesterday morning was a blackout in Maputo. Then engineers had to repeat the heads skimming before gaskets installation to satisfy Jorge, the Mitsubishi expert.
I have been promised the car will be ready until tomorrow afternoon and some photos as well.

Will get back to you of course.
And please don't forget Sharing is Power!
