Where did you fit your 29Mhz ?
I got a GME GX300 and would like to get your ideas on where I should fit it in my 20056 DID? My thought, at this stage, is to flush fit the radio where the cupholder is behind the gear lever. In the process I will loose the use of the cup holders (pitty). I have already cut a 2 ply pli-wood that fits the in the place of the cup holder and have posistioned the radio in the middle. It looks great but I still need to come up with an idea how to secure this new new pli-wood cover to the console, keeping in mind the rough terrain we travel and that it must be removable as to perform repairs/maintenance to the Pajero gearbox, etc. I will have the pli-wood covered with leather. Should look good.

Any ideas/photos from your guys? I would like to try and keep the cup holdes if possible.

Hi roem!

See thread on this forum:

I had it in my 2004 DiD SWB for almost three years without any problems. Don't forget to position your aerial at the highest point

Hope this helps

Re: Where did you fit your 29Mhz ?
I changed the title of the thread to refer to 29Mhz... in the context of 4x4 29Mhz and UHF do not refer to the same thing. The GX300 is a 29Mhz radio.

That being said the GX300 is not conducive to flushmounting having its roots in marine radio. I found it preferable to put a blanking plate in the position you want the radio and mount the radio bracket to that

I ended putting mine in the cubbie between the two front seats with an external speaker at the front passanger feet. works very well

Thank you all for the advice. I would like to keep the cupholders so I think I will go the same route as Blister. Just bought a new cupholder as my current one has one broken clip, and they charged me R415.75!!! :( :o :? :?:
Re: Where did you fit your 29Mhz ?
I installed mine under the steering column. I initially thought that it would be a bit intrusive...but its not in the way at all. I can remove it, leaving only two small holes for the bracket.
