My friend has a 1995 2.8 diesel M/T. He has recently been asked to park outside his housing complex due to excessive oil leaks. It looks like its the rear main oil seal and sump gasket. Would it be easier to remove the gearbox or the engine to get to the rear main seal? We don't have a four post lift so we would have to remove the gearbox on my garage floor.
Anyone done this before? How difficult is the job?
