Nico? Flush or acid bath?

Sorry it took so long to answer, Simon. It was an acid bath.

The radiator was past its prime and was no longer able to do its job sufficiently enough.

The recommendation was to replace the radiator, so instead of going original, I opted for a 3 core item.

So did fitting the new 3 core radiator sort out your issues?

Transkeicowboy, for the first time since I bought the Pajero I could actually drive at Atlantis dunes and do a trail without having to put on my heater to bring the temp down.

Having said that, I noticed this weekend on the way to and from the West Coast that the temp stays under the half-way mark if I drive under 3000 RPM and that if I drive over that mark then the temp starts creeping up. Bearing in mind the outside temp was around 28C and there was no wind.

I think it may just be time for a good radiator flush. My Pajero is a 1996 model that had been a bit neglected by the previous owner (no anti-freeze, wrong spark plugs, cheap oil, etc.), so there is still some gunk in the motor that ends up in the radiator and forces a flush every few months.

On the whole though, I am happy with the purchase.

I went to John Gould at Coolco in Montague Gardens(021 555 1100). The place that built the radiator is opposite them, within walking distance, and Coolco did the fitment.

John's cellphone seems to be off right now, so if you need the name I'll give him a call tomorrow.

With reference to my previous post, I replaced all the hose clamps to and from the radiator, since there was a very slight (almost unnoticeable) leakage from the pipes. All the original Mitsu parts were replaced with stainless clamps. The highest the needle goes now is just above horizontal.

I did bought a new dubblecor rediator and installed some foam around the rediators ,and whala problem solved

I replaced the rediator and installed foam .
The temperature problem was solved
But the motor no.1 piston started to seez again and i piced up a pistonslap avter onley 300km
drove it with the noise for 4000km then replaced the whole engin with one from a scrabyard.
90k and a lot of swearing later and my jero is running again
(30 days and 900km ) hope my problems is over
