Re: Okavango Barbel Run...
Hi
I would be interested, just like some details, dates costs etc. I'd also like some clarity over Guma Lagoon - there seem to be two camps/lodges named Guma.

KaiV,

Glad you guys had a great trip and glad you are safely home. I presume the Pajero did the required deeds without complaints - as per expected from them by now.

We are in the early planning phase of a Swamps - Savuti - Chobe type trip for autumn next year. An official trip report on this site or any info you would care to pass on to us to make our trip smoother and better, will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Roelf

Yes, the Paj did her job well. It was just the idiot behind the steering wheel that got her somewhat stuck in the Moremi swamps....

Following T4A, the track started disappearing fast, we took a call to carry on. As I turned around a bush, I was faced with a decision to either left or right.. I chose the right hand track and gunned it... Front wheels dug in and the back slewed around a bit. Eish, that Black cotton soil is a bugger. Chassis was not on the ground, but no traction whatsoever.

Now for the worst  , I was pulled out by mates in a Land Rover following us

Oh well, seems there are no pics of the recovery ;)

Re: Okavango Barbel Run...
Oh dear, black cotton soil.

I spent a year in N-E Botswana in the mid 80's. Vehicle was a Hilux D/C 2L (supplied by the exploration company)- one of the first D/C to hit SA's roads. If you don't have a "Scalectric" track to follow in the mud, you are doomed :o

Don't worry too much about the Landy, I was pulled off the top of a dune in the Namib by a Landy AND have pictures to show

What tyres is your Pajero wearing?
Re: Okavango Barbel Run...
I'm not embarrassed.... It was fun.

Paj has BFG AT all round, Even at 1.5bar they had no chance in that black stuff.....

Got more pics today (548 to be exact) and none with me connected to a LR ;)
