Hello Pajero club of South Africa!
Hi, We are Richard and Sophie Morgan! We have been looking at your forum for while and decided it time to introduce ourselves.
We own a 1996 Pajero NJ 3.5V6 with 282,000klms on the clock. We are currently based in Sydney Australia and are members of Triple Diamond Club of New South Wales. http://www.triplediamond.asn.au . In April we will be driving around Australia and then shipping our Pajero to Durban. From there we will drive around South Africa and then cross Africa all the way to Egypt. From there it’s across Europe back to the UK and home.
The trip has been months in the planning and we can’t wait to get onto African Soil. We have done a lot of work to the pajero to get her trip ready including extensive reconditioning and servicing. You will be able to follow our progress at http://www.morgansafari.com although the website is not quite up and running yet.
I see there is a lot of information on the forum and we will be using it as a good starting point as we will be needing things like good garages that are familiar with Pajeros, pointers on what to see and do in SA, places to buy spares etc. We both look forward to getting involved with the Pajero club community, see you in May!!!!
Richard & Sophie Morgan.
Welcome, your planned adventure sounds wonderful!
We are also planning that 15000km trip to Egipt, but because of business obligations it will have to wait for another year or two. What type of modifications have you done to your vehicle apart from getting her in tip top condition?

Hi, Welcome. Hope you have great trip. I have a brother that lives in Mackay-QLD. He regularly sends me the Aus 4WD Action Dvd's and magazines.
Africa is Toyota Land Cruiser / Hilux and Corolla country, but right behind them you will find Nissan Patrols and Mitsubishi Pajero's in equal measure. You will get new respect for and confidence in your vehicle when you see the punishment some of their next of kin endure in Moz, Zim and Zambia etc. You should not have any problems sourcing parts between South Africa and Tanzania at least. You may just need to be a bit openminded about Non-original parts. You will be amazed what you can find and no shortage in helpers or self appointed agent.
Other than medical risks,it is very safe and You will find the people friendly and open, especially North of SA.( This excludes Customs and police officials). One more thing, north of us, if someone puts on his RH indicator ,it does not mean you can pass. It means there is oncoming traffic.
All the best
