New, old guy.
Good day to all. I am a new, old kid on this forum.
I am a member of SA 4x4 Forum, and see allot of old forum friends
hanging around on this forum as well.
I am from Bloemfontein, and drive a 2007 3.2 didc GLS Pajero.

I am going to like this forum, because it seems you all like Pajero's :D

Re: New, old guy.
I need some advise from the good people out there, still struggling with this forum so please point me in the right direction if this is wrong.

Advise on the following: As been said, I am the proud owner of a 2007 Pajero with 165000 k on the clock. Now I need to decide, should I stick to him, or sell and get one of the last batches of this model. It seems that the new 2015 model will undergo MAJOR chances regarding the engine and body, and I am not sure that changes are always good.

What will I get for my Pajero, if I do a private transaction.
Re: New, old guy.
Why?

My 2001 at 285000km is still good to go, so yours is just about run in!

Re: New, old guy.
Welcome!

Stick to your super-reliable vehicle, which is most probably paid off.

If you have money to burn, put it in a savings account to one day use as a nice deposit on a 2021 Pajero!

Re: New, old guy.
Thanks for the reply, not really the advise I was hoping to hear, you know that itching, from the "need a new car bug" :)
Maybe I should try to motivate my line of thinking, and test it against you guys, because you are not under the influence of this bug, and are suppose to be more clear headed. :?
Why to buy a 2013/2014 Pajero
1. This is going to be the last of the current trusted engine, gearbox, etc. This is going to change in the next generation 5 Pajero, word goes around that they are looking at a new 6 cyl diesel engine, more powerful, but will it be as trustworthy :?:
2. This is going to be the last of the enormous "box type" look. The new gen 5 seems to have a more rounded, streamlined body, and most probably with less packing space. :?:
3. I experienced the same situation when I bought the last generation Jeep Cherokee 2001 2.5 Diesel. The next about 10 years to my opinion Jeep struggled to get something more or less in the same class, the new 2013 model seems to be more or less in the same league. Will it not be the same with Pajero, when they do these major changes in the new gen 5 :?:
4. Stealers offer me a new Pajero diesel GLS LWB, with a nav system for R589 000, going rate is R635 000.
Why not to buy :?
Re: New, old guy.
The new Mitsu 3.0 V6 TD engine is not so "new". It served in the racing Lancers in the Dakar a few years ago already.

Knowing Mitsu, they will not put a new engine on the market until they are sure it will not damage their reputation of reliability, built up over many years.

Why buy new, if there is nothing wrong with the current Pajero?

In a year, the "new" Pajero will be second hand, and you will still owe a packet on it?

Re: New, old guy.
Is your 2007 Pajero a last run gen3 or an early gen4?

Re: New, old guy.
Sorry. I now see you mention DiDc so I assume it is a gen4.

So all that would have changed from your car to the new 2013 one is the tweaked engine and turbo, grill, rims and a fancy sat nav that works worst than a R2000 Garmin? I would keep the current one.

But I know that itch and have in the past acted on it against all advice, so you need to also follow your heart every now and again

Re: New, old guy.
The first 2007 gen 4 indeed, yes, and I must say, I would appreciate the extra power, without the chip option.
