Gen3 LWB Auto Diesel Radiator advice, please
Copper 3 core tank is by far the best thing you could do. It's stronger, takes more coolant and cools better. And easily fixed.

PS : dirt can block up cracks. I recently flushed my bakkie radiator and that made the water come out of the cracks at lightning speed. Cost me a head in the end.

OK, back on track.

While my new radiator was built I took the opportunity to clean the inlet manifold (see Strip 3.2 D-iD inlet manifold).

I also replaced:
1. The water pump (probably unnecessary preventative maintenance because it turned out that the existing water pump looked fine) with a new Mitsubishi OEM one.
2. Thermostat with a new Mitsubishi OEM one.
3. Top and bottom radiator hoses.

I did not do the belts because I did those just before my last trip.

I have to say that I was delighted with the 3-core copper core radiator Silvertons in Strijdom Park fabricated for me at R4443.72 incl VAT (Thanks Morne and Rudi) - about half the price of an OEM aluminium single core with greater cooling capacity, greater coolant capacity and more maintainable in out-of-the-way places (brass tanks can be soldered and don't split like plastic tanks do). Here are some pics:

There are a few more high res pics on flickr: Pajero 3.2 Di-D replacement radiator jacashgone

I finished the install yesterday and took the paj to Silvertons this morning for them to do an in situ pressure test (they also did an exhaust gas test) and all is OK so I went for a burn along the highway afterwards.

Hopefully I won't have to be worrying myself about overheating
for a long time now.
