Pajero 2.8 Tdi starting problems
The engine swings very slow as if the battery is flat. So i took out my bakkie's battery which is a 657 willard battery. Still the same. Then i took the starter out and found that the brushes is almost finished. So i replaced them and installed the starter again but the it is still the same.
I also tried the screw driver trick and bypassed the solenoid switch. It draws a lot of current which made the point of the screw driver's point glow red hot. :o
If i take the glow plugs out then the engine swings fast.
So i dont know anymore.

Check starter armature and field coils for scuff marks. Might be the bushes that is warn.

Re: Pajero 2.8 Tdi starting problems
perhaps the solenoid contacts are burnt.

Take the starter out, and remove the solenoid. Take the plunger out and clean the contacts.

Re-assemble.

A starter is one of those electrical goodies that always works better if you just disassemble, clean and re-assemble.

Thanks guys, i forgot to update  I found that it was actually the brushes that was the culprit. But with the fiddling around the starter the wire that is going the fuel cut of solenoid broke off. Thats why it didnt want to start. After i connected the wire everything was like it should be. Next on my list is to buy a new battery.
