Excessive white smoke from exhaust
Hi fellow Pajero owners,

About two weeks ago my 2001 3.2 LWB manual decided to start smoking, and I mean excessive smoking.

Plumes of white smoke will leave the zorst when I start her up, and even whilst driving. :o

What can this be? I took the car to Mits East Rand for service (180k) and told them about the smoke. They phoned and claimed it is the diesel pump and send the car to Allen Black. Allen's team said no, it's not the pump. They will replace the injectors because they seem worn, but it is def not the pump. They tested it in and out of the car, and dyno tested as well. They are calibrating the pump before refitment tomorrow, then the car goes back to Mits East Rand.

Few q's: :?: :?:
1) What can be the cause for the white smoke?
2) Must I get Allen Black to service and check the car or take it to Mits East Rand?

Any advice will do.

Re: Excessive white smoke from exhaust
before you spend any more money, have a compression test and cooling system leak down test done.

If that comes out OK, remove the boost pipe and feel for play on the turbo impeller.

If that's OK have the turbo removed to inspect the oil seals.

If that checks out OK, have the injectors tested.

If that checks out OK you have an issue with the pump or the ecu.

Also check that your throttle butterfly operates as shown here
