Hi. I recently had to do a complete overhaul on my 1800 Pajero iO with the 4G93 motor. Replaced bearings, pistons, skimmed head and decked the block and pistons. Unfortunately in the process the cam sensor was broken. I soldered the connectors back and tested it with a multimeter. Ordered a replacement so long.
Now when I start the car, it runs nicely for about seven seconds then dies. Fitted the new sensor and the same happened. Re-soldered the old one and the car ran beautifully. Drove it four kilometres, brought it home and washed/vacuumed it. Next morning she started and died after seven seconds. Took out the old one and replaced with the new, with no change. I also got a different sensor but the same happened. Seven seconds.
Tried finding diagnosis software with no luck (Not ELM/ OBD or OBD2 or EOBD)
My amateur diagnosis says cam sensor, but does anyone have any ideas? Unplugged the crank sensor and couldn't start her, so that works.
Any ideas?
Sorry, just noticed this posted twice. Apologies.
