2009 Gen4 CAT removal
Hi.

I'm sure this had been asked before but my Tapatalk doesn't find anything when I search.

Can I go to any exhaust shop and ask to remove my catalytic converter?
Will they know exactly what to do or do I need some one with some Pajero experience?

Can I just remove the CAT? Won't my car show any engine light after it has been removed?

Thanks all

Dunlop - Cornwall Hill, at the back of Cornwall Hill Shopping Center should be able to sort you out.

I had mine removed and replaced with a piece of straight pipe for R 250-00.

Not sure about the Gen4, but the Gen3 does not have a sensor in the CAT (No wires to the CAT).

The guys at Cornwall showed me a "Dummy CAT" (Size of a 10mm bolt) which they weld into the straight pipe on vehicles which does have a sensor. The wires then plug into this dummy CAT to fool the ECU.

Pop in and ask them. It’s in our neighbourhood!

Hi LowRange.

Did the removal of the CAT improve the performance on your vehicle?

Regards.

I was there at Cornwall, the guy says he can't remove the CAT as it sits on the manifold, so I'm not 100% sure if its true or not.

He also can't remove the middel silencer and replace with a free flow box as gee would need to change everything.....

Laupi, although it feels slightly more responsive, I have not seen any improvement in fuel consumption.
