Hi superairborne. Did you have and EGT gauge fitted? Would be interesting to know if they had any significant part to play in your saga.

Thanks Cats and Andrew, your arguments are sound and convinced me.

Concerned ,I bought my DID 3.2 last year with 344000km , this forum and another one convinced me that the Engine will hold. Was going to buy another make for R250000 and 150000km. I paid R120 000 for my Pajero with new tyres , shocks , service , new timing chain , and whatever else I wanted fixed on the vehicle. No smoke etc . Vehicle now on 356000km just did the service.
Those engines are as tuff as it gets. Even John Wayne took a punch to the chin once in a while, but extremely seldom.

Friend of mine lost his 3.2 engine for the 3rd time, hole in no. 3 piston on every occasion. Repairs was done in Bloem once and also by Mitspro. Injector pump done by Alan Black, cost a small fortune and injector overhaul also very expensive. He has spent more than R100k already on repairs. My question: what is going on with these engines, as i have read of this problem numerous times on the forum.
