Got your baby back yet? Interested to know how she is running now!
Not yet, but the strip down revealed blocked journals on the lifters and quite a bit of sludge in the motor. Now this I find contradicts all the punting of the Delo 400. Even the mech said to use something else.
However all of this is good news as if it is the lifters then the sub assembly is OK and no piston slap. The mech I took it to on Adrian's advice took one listen and said that noise is cam speed not crank speed. So we have found a full set of lifters and will go this route. Maybe see him back late this week.

Stranger, glad that motor is good.
Sludge: damn man, that is not good. How long have you been on Delo? I'm thinking that maybe the Delo couldn't fix 16 year's worth of build-up.
PS: my van is going in for the 135k service next week, DELO is already on order - should I re-think??

The first service Mitspro did they used Castrol something or other. When Delo was punted I did an oil change and filter. Next 3 services from then, were Delo 400. Have to admit that my regular mech commented on the Delo and said it looked fine each time.
Maybe, like you say, 16 years worth of sludge in the upper part of the motor. To my knowledge, nothing was ever done to this part of the motor previous.

Thanks, think I'll stay with Delo. I really read and asked around as much as possible before switching to Delo. I was convinced then, but had believed that it would clean up earlier indiscretions.
