Not sure what to do now....
Did the pajero go into limp mode? Did the light extinguish itself when backing off the accelerator, or did you have to restart the engine? Which error codes come up when you do the DIY code scan?

Check if all your hoses are still attached, sometimes the hoses jump off the turbo or intercooler if the jubilee clamps haven't been tightened properly. Also see if the little hose from the wastegate actuator to the turbo is still attached.

Yep, the moment I lifted my foot, the light went off and the turbo kicked in again. Last time the symptoms were the same and the error code said it was an over boost. The car is going in on Thursday

OK, sounds like an over-boost pressure issue (I have had it before too) . Keep us posted to the outcome.

EDIT:
What was replaced in the turbo rebuild? Was a brand NEW waste-gate actuator fitted? Sound like this could be the culprit...

Re: Engine light coming on - again!
has anyone checked the EGR pipe for blockage?

when the warning ;light on my DiD kept coming on intermittently the mitsu mechanics couldn't diagnose the issue. eventually led to one of my pistons breaking a big bill from a rebuild.

the EGR was extremely blocked.

soon as I hear of guys with the engine waring light coming on this is always the first thing I tell them to check.

my problem occurred at around 190 000km

good luck sorting out your issue
Re: Engine light coming on - again!
The waste gate actuator was cleaned. I understand that there are two versions. one is mechanical, the other is electronic. The car is going in on Wednesday to have it checked.

Will keep you posted.

Engine light coming on - different code
It appears as if it is a different fault code 13 now. The last time it was turbo over-boost, now it it is air intake temperature. Looks like it is difficult to diagnose the cause.

Re: Engine light coming on - again!
From what i have seen on other forums this could be a carboned up manifold/egr that causes a lot of these types of issues

The EGR and manifold were checked. The wastegate actuator was adjusted which seemed to solve the overboost problem.

Re: Engine light coming on - again!
Sorted. The actuator was replaced. It appears that when the turbo was rebuilt in December, the actuator rod was found to be bent and was straightened. But there was obviously something else wrong.

The turbo was boosting too soon at low revs. So when the engine was pushed going uphill, it over boosted. Now the engine seems much smoother and seems to have more power at 120kph. It also 'chirps' much less when accelerating.

One week later, lots of steep hills and no engine light. Yay!
