3.2 did smoking and loss of power
Hi all

I have a intermittend problem on my 2001 3.2 did with about 150 000 km on the clock.As you pull away it feels like a petrol engine running on 2 or 3 pistons,like a mis fire and then the engine smokes a lot.As you a little bit give more throttle it goes away and pulls strong and no smoking.I have had the injectors and fuel pump redone,I have a spare fuel pump and it does it with this pump aswell.I have an idea that it might be the heat sensor giving valse readings to the computer and then the computer overfuels.I also had to replace the cylinder head about 20 000 km ago.

Can some one help.

Overfuelling in a diesel gives extra power and higher EGT's (unlike a petrol)

Your turbo could be on the way to destruction. Unbolt the intercooler pipes and look for excessive oil (posting a pic will be most helpful)

Other than that, have a wet and dry compression test done to eliminate a failing ring. ( although a faulty oil ring might not show up on a compression test )

I would say that it is ECU related.

Take it to the agents, let them hook up the MUT diagnostic device and see whether any fault codes come up whilst accellerating.

Ek het n 2005 DID 3.2 SWB. Ek het n probleem gehaat met myne wat rook en krag verloor as ek so teen 80 km/h of teen n afdraande af gaan , dan het die voertuig krag verloor voel soos n exchaust brake en het wit gerook tot dat ek bietjie die versneller getrap het dan het dit dadelik weg gegaan.

Ek het gevind dat die mense wat die diesel pomp gedoen het die EGR en op die intake is daar n butterfly met n vacume pyppie dat hulle die pyppe om geruil het. Maak seker daar is drie vacume pyppe dus swart pyppies met n rooi , geel en blou streepies op.

Maak seker dat die pyppe op die regte plekke is.

Wat gebeur is hulle het die EGR pyp op die butterfly gesit en die butterfly sin op die EGR. Net soos die voertuig af draande gaan en die ecu besluit om die EGR oop te maak dan trek die butterfly in die intake toe en smoor die voertuig.

So maak seker oor die pyppe ! Wat jy ook kan doen is om miskien jou EGR valve af te blank miskien is daar dalk fout.
